Geocaching on Tievebulliagh

Went for a walk up Tievebulliagh with the intention of finding a geocache near the summit. Weather was bright, cold and windy but I was dressed for the occasion. Surprised to find that I

didn't have any mobile signal on the way up the Clough road to Ballure despite getting nearer to a mobile mast. My network carrier is Vodafone but the mast is solely used by O2 ... it's a pity the telephone providers don't share and co-locate their services. On the summit the wind was blowing very hard and it was extremely cold. Managed to read the clue for the hidden cache and carefully stepped down in Lee of the hill. Got the cache easily, signed the log and noticed that I was now getting 5 bars on the phone ... must be getting a signal from one of the Vodafone masts in Glenaan? On the way down called in with Jimmy Quinn to see his computer gear and video software. The distance covered was about 16km. Tired and glad to get back home ... Put the kettle on for a cup of tea!
