Budapest Day 1

Up bright and early, had a good breakfast and hit the trail. The city is wonderful ... beautiful buildings and big bronze statues everywhere ... walked over the Lanchid bridge to Buda and watched the guard of honour line up for the President ... dunno who he is? Later did the other main touristy things.

Vivi inspecting the guards.

Heroes' Square at the top end of Andrassy Boulevard ... it's a World heritage site and the statues are worth looking at.

That's our hotel behind the tree and very convenient for walking around the centre of town. Think we have got our bearings now and ready to try something more adventurous tomorrow.

No water flowing today. Later on in the evening we had a chicken burger in McDonald's ... why not? Walked back to the area around Rosevelt Sq. and popped into a traditional Hungarian pub where live gypsy music was being played ... they managed to sell us a CD! After a drink we trundled back to base at 23:30. Wonder why we're tired?

Ad lib street entertainment outside hotel.
