The Adventure Starts!

Hi everyone.  Up early at 05:30 (couldn't sleep!) and did a final check with the bits and pieces. Seamus called at 07:00 with his pickup and we headed up to the airport.  Feel quite sad about leaving home for so long.




Checking in was a hassle ... I was charged $50 for an extra bag despite my explanation of what it says on their website. Anyway ... we're on our way. Bike passed over to the handlers for safe keeping!
Will miss Vivi and feel bad 'bout leaving her to look after herself ... no doubt Alastair, Moira and Bernadette as well as Anthony & Kirsty will help out.  See you all in NY.

A few hours later arrived safe and sound at Newark airport, NY.  I had changed the SIM card while on the 'plane over ... to a USA card ... and 'bingo' it's up and working and now able to text Calum at home.  He's coming to pick me up. No problems with the immigration people, also found out where the oversize baggage was being being offloaded ... bike seems to be in good order, no signs of any damage. That's it ... I'm here.

Just have to wait patiently for my lift but I'm already aware of the heat and Sun ... blue sky and very warm ... it's lovely at the moment but wondering what it will be like to cycle in?




Calum, Hilary and Archie are looking great .... especially, dare I say it, wee Archie.  He is so solid and big and has a lovely complexion with a hint of being outdoors.  Never realised how blue his eyes are, reminded me of  Sean Terris's eyes in Australia.  I'm gonna enjoy my short stay here!   Bicycle stuff can wait until tomorrow.
