Budapest Day 5 ... last day

Wakened at 07:30 so will be in time for some breakfast. Suppose we should pack up and get ready to checkout from this very nice hotel. Our final plan is to take the tram a few miles up the road and then 'dander' back, having a final look at the place. I think it's marvellous spot for a short break with the only downside being too many tourists, too many street vendors selling you trips and sadly too many beggars ... I don't know what's the proper tactic when they approach ... Vivi talks to them and you hear some horrific stories ... but can you believe them? Budapest looks like a wealthy city so the pickings are good. Overall impression is nevertheless very favourable ... I would like to return.

View from our room Took a tram to the far end of the city centre and walked back to the hotel. Had our last look at Buda castle and the bridges ... we'll get a coffee and snack somewhere and then wait for our taxi to arrive ... hope he turns up?

Sad memorial to those Jews shot and thrown into the Danube in 1944.

Now that's what you call an antique.

Just look at the bullet holes and explosive marks on that building.

Nice touch ... a door handle.

Final view over Pest from Buda castle.

Looks a bit like Disneyland ... this church has been completely rebuilt. All good things must come to an end ... thank you Budapest for giving us a very enjoyable time. Waiting at Ferihegy Airport .... it's very fancy.

Flight on time. Depart 20:10
Location:Budapest
