Day 4

Why is it you feel so tired in the morning? Slept well but want to get on the road while it's cool ... up at 05:30 ... takes 1 hour to gather up my bits and pieces ... no aches or pains yet and a nice easy run into Danville. Stopped off at 'Dunkin Douhnuts' to charge the phone .... (very slow) and update log. It's raining but that might help to keep things cool. Should be heading onto smaller roads now ... navigation wasn't a problem yesterday but let's see what happens today. Further up the road at Lewisburgh ... 25 mile done and time for a break. Passed by some creeks bit none looked too clean to have a dip. Noticed a building site with a port-a-loo ... very clean with good facilities!

Now in Amish country ... saw several buggies trotting along the road and got a nice wave from the occupants. This sad pony was parked outside a supermarket ... buggy has lights, indicators and is very light. Wish it would rain again ... it's lovely and cool in a shower ... otherwise it's too humid for me. In a McDonalds charging up the phone (seems to take longer here than in UK .... 220V compared to 120V) Managed to catch up with the World News while reading the newspaper ... feeling tired, despite a strong start to the day. Will cycle for another 2 hours and look for a pretty spot to spend the night ... in open farmland now and there are easy places to stop off ... must have taken too much out myself yesterday ... have been careful to pace myself, but not feeling hungry due to the heat and I'm sure that has something to do with it. Drivers have been extremely courteous and I feel more confident now. (Vivi has reminded me not to write 'done' when it should be 'have done' or 'I did ... I know the grammar rule but it's a bad habit that comes from being reared in Glasgow !!) Slow progress up into the hills, passing many Amish folk ... some smile and wave, others don't. Met a nice couple at a spring well who advised me where to wash up in a lovely creek a few miles up the road. Made this a lazy day ... only 50 miles ... slept well and missedy 'firefly friends' My 'Wendy' house set up beside a forest lay-by.
