Day 35 Rest Day

The promise of another warm, sunny day ... it's 08:30 and already you can feel the heat outside. Not sure what's on the agenda today but will have to wash down the tent and my sleeping mat ... they will dry out quickly and freshen up. Also have to change brake blocks ... I carry spares and have the tools. Will do a complete check on the bike and start 'psyching' myself up for the challenge of the next few days. My main concern is how the altitude above 10000' will affect me? I'll be gasping for air but will I get nauseous, headaches and be sick? Feeling good and confident but just have to make myself aware of potential problems. I'm looking forward to the cool air up in the mountains. Oh! I'll also take more photos of Mark ... one's back home are getting him mixed up with his brother Alastair!

Mark, Brooke and little Tyler Doesn't take long for stuff to dry here. Tent and sleeping mat smell a bit better and just working on the bike now. Will take a walk down the road to the local shopping mall then probably spend a while at the pool. This cycle touring lark is the way to see things. Catch youse later!! Walked down the road to the local shopping centre for a bit of a dander .... it's about a mile or so but nobody else on the road ... it's so easy and more practical to take a car, especially on a warm day like this. Notice you can get free Wifi in the Safeway supermarket ... that might be useful to remember later. Now back at Mark's house ... will take a breather and then go across to the pool.

Splashed to and fro on this pool for an hour. Mark had returned home by that time ... nice meal ... good conversation and prepared things for tomorrow morning. Lovely time in Denver. Goodnight.

Location:Broomfield, Denver,CO

Hi Joseph

Damian McAlister told me about your trip and your blog just after you started out on your journey and I've been following your progress ever since.

I'm amazed at everything that's happening on your journey - from the miles you've travelled, the temperatures you are enduring, the towns you've visited and the people you've met - they certainly restore your faith in humanity! At the moment I'm racing home each evening to log on to find out what's been happening since the previous update...It sounds like such an amazing experience. I enjoyed your videos as well.

All the best with the rest of your trip, I hope your good fortune continues.

Hopefully we'll get to meet at the wedding in October. Sorry, I should have introduced myself earlier, I'm one of Damian's future sisters-in-law! Stay safe!
