Day 59 ... The End

At Alexandra's place on Brea ... up at 05:00 and will be on my way by 06:30. It's easy to get up early in this climate and it's pleasant cycling in the early morning.

I have a direct route mapped out for me all the way to the coast ... think I'll head to Redondo Beach along Imperial Highway ... it's a straight run of about 40 interesting miles. I want easy access to the shoreline and not have to carry my bike over the sand. Just wondering what it's going to feel like? I'll try and make a 'stoopit' video for YouTube.

LA has many of these drainage channels ... I was waiting to see the 'Terminator' to be driving down in a truck.

Arrived at Paul's place ... I'll get a spot of lunch then nip down to the shore to complete the rituals.

At Redondo Beach on the west coast of USA ... people wondered what I was doing with the bike. Within a few minutes a small crowd had gathered up asking questions.

Here is my final video on the beach at Redondo: Arriving at Redondo Beach, California I'm not suggesting anyone do this as a diet program but it's certainly one way to lose weight.

Remember way back on the east coast at Rhode Island Sound? Here's a video taken at Grand Canyon: Desert View, Grand Canyon I have a lot of people to thank for making this such a memorable and successful trip ... a special thank you has to go out to all those lovely American people that I met on my travels ... they were courteous, friendly and generous and it has left a deep impression on me. Thanks America ... you have been wonderful. END of BLOG Many Thanks Joseph Ferris

Cushendall Comet:
Hooray for Joseph!! Proud of you.
You have pressed on when it would have been easy to pack it in. You've pressed on through heat, cold, humidity, Mosquitos, dogs, dangerous traffic, many flat tires...and some 3,000 grueling miles. I only wonder where/when you go next. Please keep me posted, Joseph.

I remember when we were cycling back from Carnlough, you told me that on the 20th June you were going to cycle across America. Well I could'nt believe it then and I'm finding it very difficult to believe you actually did it.. WHAT AN ACHIEVEMENT.

Joseph it was five years ago this weekend that you stayed in our yard in Indiana my husband and I were just thinking about you. We had a tree down in our yard and put up your pup tent out there in the branches you werein the shade. We live on US 24 in Indiana. Reynolds Indiana that is. My husband and I were having pork burgers on the grill and Indiana sweet corn it was a pleasure to give you some food. We hope you and your family are doing wonderful. I recall the "Cushendall Comet" passing thru my summer home of Williams, AZ. Joe and I shared a lunch on famous Route #66 in downtown Williams.
It was a great and successful trip. I recall others were planned...Scandanivia, Russia? Hope all is well Joe.
