Counting Down :
Departing Cushendall on Wednesday 15th June, 2011 flying to Newark, New York city.
Will stay with Calum, Hilary and Archie for a few days to complete preparations to my bicycle and camping equipment.
Plan to leave New York City early on Monday, 20th June and cycle to Los Angeles ... taking about 65 days to complete the adventure. I'll upload daily Internet blogs, uplink stuff to Facebook and keep a written diary of the trip.
Must reach LA before 6th September to catch a flight back to NY and then get home to Ireland a few days later.
Promised Kirsty I'll be back in Cushendall before 16th September.

This is my last opportunity to go for a long run on the bike before I have to partially strip it down, clean it and put it into a large cardboard box for the flight across to the US. It will take a few more days to pack all the bits and pieces that I think will be needed.
The weather here recently has been awful ... cold ... wet ... and windy ... not conducive to implementing a training programme. Anyway, I'll get out onto the bike for a few hours and try to imagine what it's like to cycle in the heat!
